Let’s Play a Bit – “By Fire and Sword” Tournament 2024 in Sucha Beskidzka
October 19–20, 2024 | Suski Castle | Sucha Beskidzka
Wargaming and History Meet at the Castle
For two days in October, the Suski Castle came alive. The reason? A “By Fire and Sword” tournament organized by the Zdecżka Gramy association in cooperation with the Suska Library. The tournament was the grand finale of the “Development Paths: The Suski State in the 17th Century” project, which blended historical education with a passion for miniature wargaming and modeling.
Regional Diorama and Miniature Battles
A diorama created for the event depicted the 17th-century Suski State: Sucha, Stryszawa, Zembrzyce, and nearby villages. The castle, rivers, mills, and bridges were all recreated in 15 mm scale. Tournament participants reenacted historical battles from the era, including clashes with Ottoman Empire forces.
For Enthusiasts and Families
The event also featured board game demonstrations, children’s contests, and art workshops. Younger attendees could also take part in model-making activities. The organizers emphasized the educational and family-friendly nature of the tournament.
Particularly noteworthy were the collector's models of historical figures – Kasper Suski and Piotr Komorowski – handcrafted by Marcin Szymański and painted by Adam Zielonka.
